Our hearts beat for pasta
Who is not a fan of pasta with tomato sauce? Behind the easiest pasta dish, however, there is so much more than you might think – and, as always, the secret is in the ingredients! High-quality tomatoes and key for the perfect sauce, and good grain makes a huge difference.
Next to the classics, healthy pasta alternatives are becoming more and more popular, and, as we want to always be in step with the times, we have included whole grain spelt pasta and chickpea pasta in our selection.
We think that it is about time that you discover delicious pasta made of sprouted spelt or buckwheat, chickpea fusilli, and even hemp pasta. Have fun and buon appetito!
Grains for gourmets
All breakfast lovers out there will have a reason to celebrate – just take a look at our breakfast foods, such as cereal flakes made from spelt, oat, and even rice! Over millennials, cereals hace always provided us with valuable and easy energy, and still are a super important part of a healthy and balanced diet.
It is also fascinating to see how different the various types of cereals are, in terms of taste and nutritional values, when compared with each other. Whether hearty, nutty, smooth, or delicate, we are sure you are going to find the perfect cereal for your muesli bowl, among the ones in our wide selection.
What are pseudocereals?
Unlike wheat, rye & co., quinoa, amaranth and buckwheat do not belong to the family of the sweet grasses. However, as those products are used as cooking ingredients just like common cereals, they were given the name “pseudocereals”.
Since pseudocereals are naturally gluten-free, their properties as cooking and baking ingredients are often different to white flour. Nevertheless their application in cooking is various, and their differences appear clear with their outer appearance as well: we have red and white quinoa grains, various types of buckwheat, puffed or rolled flakes – the list goes on and on! Surprise your friends at the next dinner party with some unique and fancy cooking ingredients!
Rice is much more than a basic cooking ingredient: did you know that Japanese people place so much emphasis on their beloved rice that they use several words for “rice”, depending on whether they talk about the green rice plant, the little grains in their raw or cooked version, and more?
Not only in the land of the rising sun, but also in many other Asian regions, rice is one of the most important and versatile staple foods. Try our organic sushi rice - simply perfect for the next party with friends!
Our white and brown organic Basmati rice is suitable for various recipes, such as spicy lentil-based curries, and many other balanced and energising meals which you can also easily make ahead.
Our aromatic spices
Once the pot is quietly bubbling on the stove, it is time to answer the question: what to add for spicing up your stew or curry, and satisfying your taste buds? If you are looking for a spice capable of bringing not only taste, but colour too to your meal, our organic turmeric is what you need! But ginger will also give your creation that extra boost.
For more spice-inspiration, take a look, as always, to our Food journal section, where you can find recipes for heavenly desserts refined with Bourbon vanilla, organic Ceylon cinnamon, and other exotic flavours.
Legumes – great sources of fibre and protein!
Vegan or not, it is always a good idea to incorporate more legumes into your diet, as they are wonderful sources of plant-based protein and fibre. At KoRo you can find all sorts of dry beans, chickpeas, and lentils, which can be used in a huge variety of preparations!
Once cooked, your favourite legumes will be much more voluminous than when they arrived at your door! Moreover, their taste is much nicer and richer than that of their canned siblings. You will also quickly realise how worthwhile soaking your beans overnight is. What are you waiting for! Order your favourite legumes and have them delivered straight to your doorstep.
High-quality oils for your cupboard
Thankfully, we have long since left behind us the fear of oils. It is now well-known and broadly-accepted that we must not demonise the third macronutrient – fat. However, selecting the right product is of paramount importance!
In our online shop you will find the right oil for your every need – cold-pressed for salads and sauces, like our olive or pumpkin seed oil, which should be used raw; heat-tolerant for frying and cooking at high temperatures, like our coconut oil.
What do I cook today?
Already planning your next banana bread? How about replacing traditional, basic ingredients such as butter or margarine with our high-quality walnut, hemp seed, or pumpkin seed oil? Especially nut lovers will love their nutty aromas which also harmonise perfectly with the sweetness of banana bread.
If you’ve already satisfied your sweet tooth, how about preparing some fresh, mediterranean tomato sauce with our extra virgin olive oil and enjoy it with our organic sprouted pasta?
Delicious recipes with KoRo’s finest cooking ingredients

This list goes on and on, but why don’t you just browse through our food journal and find your favourite ideas.
All questions about KoRo’s cooking ingredients
We would like to provide you with all the relevant information about our cooking ingredients. If you have a question about one specific product, please check its Specification and description. Should you not find what you are looking for, please contact us via email or social media; we are always happy to help!
Are some of these products organic?
Many of our cooking ingredients come from certified organic cultivations. In order to make it as simple as possible for you to find them, we added a label on every organic product.
Our organic spectrum ranges from bulgur, couscous, and millet, to ghee, vegetable broth, and cocoa powder, including tofu and so many other products!
How do I know if the product is vegan?
On our products it is always clearly stated whether or not it is vegan, and which ingredients it contains. However, it can be said that, in principle, all varieties of pasta, rice, pseudocereals, and legumes are naturally plant-based and free of animal products.
At KoRo you can also find all sorts of vegan treats like our soy protein crispies with cocoa, and the vegan staples like the beloved yeast flakes. Even our pesto rosso is vegan – fully plant-based so that everybody can also fully enjoy it.
What about meat substitutes?
Yes, our product range includes various alternatives to meat that are so delicious that they might even convince one or two meat eaters!
Did you know that the flesh of the jackfruit is a great, low-fat alternative to meat, that you can season and marinate just like meat? If you like cooking, our pea protein strips and soy chunks should never be missing in your kitchen, as you never know when your friends could pop by for your famous homemade vegan Bolognese!
For those who would rather save themselves the time of marinating and seasoning, we have a good selection of smoked tofus that will bring taste and some extra protein to your table.
How do I find out if a product is gluten-free?
Millet, quinoa or amaranth naturally contain no gluten. Even though oats are also naturally gluten-free, we cannot label them as gluten-free food, because they are often processed in places where grains containing gluten are also handled. Therefore we at KoRo sell gluten-free oats and other 100% gluten-free cooking ingredients.
In general, we indicate on each of our products whether it contains gluten or not.
Does KoRo also offer gluten-free pasta?
Yes, we do and you can even choose! Our hemp, buckwheat, and chickpea pasta cannot wait to enrich your culinary creations.
What is the best way to store these cooking ingredients?
Filled in our storage jars and stored in a dry and dark place, your cooking ingredients will keep their best possible quality for very long.
