With our basmati rice, you can bring an orient flare into your kitchen. In India and Pakistan this type of rice is already an essential component in every house. Its flowerer like smell, gives the basmati it’s name, because translated from Hindu it means “scent”. It is a very aromatic and long grain rice, which origins in Afghanistan. The taste is nutty- earthy and it doesn’t stick together like sushi rice and is one of the more noble rice varieties.
The two varieties that we offer, the brown and the white one, definitely convinced us with their taste. But we did not only chose the rice because of its taste, but also because its super easy too prepare. The rice only needs 15 min to cook and ends up having a fluffy and airy consistency. The brown kind is completely natural and not peeled or washed. This means that all essential nutrients and fibre are still obtained. In comparison the brown basmati is a bit firmer to bite.
The fragrant rice can be served as a sweet or savoury, as a side or as a main dish. But it is for sure always a great alternative to common rice. KoRo hack: For the extra taste experience, you can add herbs in the water the rice is cooking in. This way your rice will have its own original taste, for example with turmeric or cardamom. With a little bit of cinnamon your can conjure a beautiful rice pudding.
