Everything at a glance Bourbon vanilla pods

Are you addicted to vanilla? So are we! For us Bourbon vanilla is the queen of spices. Its taste is unmistakable: spicy-sweet and highly aromatic. It is the most expensive vanilla variety and also the most abundant. Our pure Bourbon vanilla pods not only taste fabulous but are a balm for your soul as well.
To prepare them, the cloves are cut into two to collect the seeds. But careful! Don’t throw away the cloves after having collected the seeds, since for instance they can be used again to make vanilla sugar. Just put about 1 kg of sugar together with the scrapped vanilla pods into a jar, seal properly and leave for at least one week. And there you have homemade vanilla sugar!
Our bourbon vanilla is perfect for sauces and cremes, ice creams, cakes and any kind of desserts. For vanilla fans: a pinch of vanilla in your cocoa or chai tea latte will do. The pods are approx. 17 cm long.

In 2017, over 8 million tons of vanilla were produced worldwide, 95% of which was Bourbon vanilla. Madagascar leads the global production with around 3.2 million tons a year. The optimal planting time for vanilla orchids is between September and November. After three years, the vanilla orchids will bloom for the first time, which will then be pollinated by hand. Vanilla farmers must always be on the lookout for new flowers, because they only bloom for one day; if there is no pollination within 24 hours, the flowers will bloom and no capsule fruit will be produced.

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.
