Everything at a glance Non-fortified nutritional yeast flakes 500 g

Everyone knows it – pasta needs a cheesy topping. Well, now, thanks to our nutritional yeast flakes, vegan pasta can have what it was missing. Aromatic in taste, these flakes are packed with important nutrients, and in addition, they melt heavenly in your mouth. Can we wish for more?

Nutritional yeast as nutrients powerhouse

Our nutritional yeast flakes are made from molasses, from which results a real superfood: nutritional yeast is a great source of calcium and iron, and it contains a lot of magnesium and biotin. Aren't you convinced? We did not tell you everything yet. Yeast flakes are also a wonderful source of vitamin B1, B2, B3 and B6.

The vegan cheese upgrade

Nutritional yeast flakes cannot be used for baking, contrary to what their name might suggest, as they are deactivated. But they can be sprinkled over any dish to which you wish to add a delicious cheesy touch –  from pizza and lasagna to vegetables stir-frys. With our nutritional yeast you can make a wonderful vegan Mac and Cheese, or perfect a risotto.

They can make your baked potato chips extra crispy, or, if mixed with cashews, salt and garlic, substitute your parmesan cheese – this vegan parmesan does wonders in the oven too, making your casserole dishes just unforgettable.

Yeast flakes are also the perfect ally in the realisation of perfectly smooth, well-bound sauces, and creamy and flavoursome spreads or dips; for example, our nutritional yeast flakes can give an unexpected touch to your hummus.

Why are our yeast flakes so special

With the tiny packets available at your supermarket, you are not going to do much, especially as there are so many great recipes with nutritional yeast out there to try! This is why we have packed our flakes for you in large bags, so that you will always have some handy in the time of need. Our nutritional yeast flakes contain no filler medium, added salt, or colourants. What the bag does contain is 100 % nutritional yeast, to refine and improve your dishes! Packed in paper, our yeast flakes come from Germany.

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Questions about questions Non-fortified nutritional yeast flakes 500 g

Search in our FAQ section::

What does "deactivated" mean?

In the production of yeast flakes, the yeast cream is heated, therefore the yeasts lose their natural raising power, which otherwise makes doughs for pizza, yeast plaits and bread grow in an almost magical way. This is because the now inactive yeast can no longer produce carbon dioxide and alcohol.

Is nutritional yeast a superfood?

Yeast flakes are a real superfood, and that is the case of our nutritional yeast made in Germany. Yeast flakes have a high nutrient density and are considered a good source of calcium; they also have a high level of iron and magnesium, and last but not least, they contain high amounts of vitamins B1, B2, B3 and B6, and biotin. Since the B vitamins are sensitive to heat, you should not cook the yeast flakes, but stir them into the finished dish, when possible!

What is the difference between yeast flakes, brewer's yeast, and dry yeast?

Yeast flakes are so special, they have several names. In supermarkets you can also find yeast flakes under the names nutritional yeast and noble yeast - don't worry, they all refer to the same thing. Of course you should not confuse yeast flakes with normal baker's yeast and dry yeast, as these types of yeast are not intended for raw consumption. Yeast extract also means something else, namely a flavour enhancer. Brewer's yeast has nothing to do with yeast flakes either, as this one was specially bred for breweries and does not taste pleasantly spicy like our yeast flakes, but rather slightly bitter.

Super price-performance ratio and pleasant taste.

I have tried many different yeast flakes and since I live in a suburb with no health food store, I have often had to resort to yeast flakes from the drug store. The yeast flakes in particular that are available at the supplements have a less than optimal taste in my opinion. The yeast flakes from one or the other organic brand are very good in quality, but cost an enormous amount for a small quantity. If you use yeast flakes regularly, this can become very expensive very quickly. Koro's yeast flakes are therefore an ideal solution, as you have a direct supply without having to spend a lot of money. Taste-wise, they do exactly what they are supposed to do: A cheesy aftertaste that is neither too dominant, nor brings other perhaps not so delicious tastes with it.

The yeast flakes have a great taste and I have been ordering them from Koro for quite some time now, but after the recent price increase of 15 I have to think twice for the future
