Varieties and origins

Sour cherries
Sour cherries, also known as tart cherries, are dark-red and, compared to sweet cherries, more acidic, smaller, and juicier. The different varieties of sour cherries all have in common a mildly sour, tart taste. They are perfect in baked goods and canned. KoRo's sour cherries are dried and sugar-free.
Sweet cherries
As you can deduce from their name, sweet cherries are much sweeter than sour cherries, as they less acidic. Characterised by a dark-red tint and soft flesh, sweet cherries are delicious also dried - so much that we have decided to avoid using any added sugar to them!
Cherry juice
Cherry juice comes, normally, from sour cherries, but can be made of sweet cherries as well. The cherries are washed, their stones removed, and then juiced.
Freeze-dried cherries
Freeze-dried cherries are shock-frozen directly after the harvest, and then dried. Thanks to this elaborate process, the fruits maintain their colour, taste, and most of their nutrients intact. They are a great topping for your porridge, or eaten as a healthy snack.
Worldwide, there are over 400 different types of cherry, which can be divided into sweet and sour cherries. In addition, the varieties can also be differentiated based on their maturity - early, medium and late ripening varieties. Turkey and the USA are among the world's largest producers.

What is the KoRo price chart?
In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles. -
Why is the price fluctuating?
Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers. -
Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?
Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Rare to find as dried fruit, but wonderful in flavor!
Excellent!!! It doesn't always have to be cranberries: These sour cherries come from Europe, they definitely taste a bit more tart than the cranberries, but I like that, and that's what natural, unsweetened sour cherries taste like (the cranberries, which of course also taste wonderful, are sweetened). They're reasonably soft, and when you're pure they release a variety of flavors, I find. For baking (but almost too bad for that), in homemade muesli, for snacking on their own, but they also do great in green salads. I have already ordered them twice ;-) Who knows how tedious cherry picking is, which immediately sees that the price-performance ratio is very good.

Delicious, slightly tart, which gives a certain freshness (the sweet cherries remind more of dried plums). I also find good that organic quality is offered.

quite fantastic
i love them!! They come soaked to my breakfast porridge and go well with oriental cuisine. Good price-performance ratio

Super juicy, slightly tart, delicious!
Super juicy, slightly tart, delicious!

Delicious, healthy snack
A few are too dried up and a few stone remnants are still in some cherries, but otherwise quality and taste is top notch.

We are very satisfied with the delivery time and the quality. We find the large packages good.

Simply super delicious and healthy!
Our 2nd bulk order arrived super fast at our house. The sour cherries had to go, after we were allowed to try them at my sister. They are super delicious in muesli, porridge or just to nibble on. A taste explosion! Top quality. Jammi!

A must...
... for cherry fans me.
Not too sour and at the same time perfect sweetness. The quality is super and far better than supermarket-usual dried cherries, which you can not find unsulphured and unsweetened anyway mostly.
I will always buy again 🍒
