Preserves just like grandma's: hearty pickling spices for cucumbers and much more

Use your own vegetables throughout the year with our hearty pickling spices! You can use pretty much all solid vegetables for pickling. Cucumbers are particularly popular, but peppers, beetroot, pumpkin, radishes, onions and courgettes also taste incredibly delicious pickled. It is important that you only use fresh produce for pickling and that you clean it thoroughly beforehand. You can also pickle the vegetables in salt water for 12 hours.

Using our spices

To enjoy your vegetables all year round, you will need about 3 kg of your favourite washed and cut vegetables, 3 tablespoons of our preserving spice mixed with 1.5 litres of water, 500 ml vinegar (10 %), 300 g sugar and about 100 g salt. Et voilà - your secret recipe is ready, which will make even our grannies a little envious. In the first step, you should carefully wash, clean and, if necessary, peel your vegetables. To add the spices, you can then divide the prepared and cut vegetables among screw jars or preserving jars (sterilize the jars by leaving them in boiling water for 10 minutes before filling them) and fill them up to the brim with your boiled spice stock. Finally, seal the jars tightly and leave to cool. You should leave your vegetables to marinate for at least 4 weeks before eating them.

Quick guide on how to use the spices:

Sterilize the jars and distribute about 3 kg of your favourite washed and cut vegetables among the jars. Now mix:

  • 1,5 litres water
  • 500 ml vinegar (10 %)
  • 300 g sugar
  • 100 g salt
  • 3 tbsps KoRo preserving spices

bring to a boil and fill the jars all the way to the top, then seal airtight. Let pickle for at least 4 weeks before enjoying your delicious preserved vegetables!

Yes, it's all vegan baby! Since we only some, hand-picked vegetable spices come in the 400 g package, the preserving spice is also wonderfully suitable for a vegan diet.
There are no generally valid statements about the shelf life of preserved foods. Vegetables in particular are susceptible to spoilage. To extend the shelf life, cucumbers, zucchini, carrots and the like should not only be filled hot, but also boiled down. Then canned vegetables can also be stored in the pantry for 6-12 months. The most common sources of error when canning vegetables are too little sugar, working without a recipe, filling temperatures that are too low, storing the jars too warm, defective lids (and no vacuum in general) and starting products that are too old.
Our product is a hearty pickling spice. It is particularly suitable for firm vegetables, such as cucumber, peppers, beet, pumpkin and zucchini. But onions, beans and hot peppers also enjoy a spice dip. With our preserving spice, your vegetables will not only be unbeatably delicious, but also really long-lasting.
Only select spices in finely tuned proportions make it into our hearty preserving spice: While dill, pepper, allspice, juniper berries, bay leaves and cloves are on the list of ingredients, you will look in vain for artificial flavor enhancers. Our pickling spice also comes without animal additives and is therefore vegan and lactose-free.
Yes, only purely vegetable ingredients end up in our pickling spice, it comes without milk powder and the like and is therefore lactose-free (and vegan).
To pickle your favorite vegetables, all you need is 3 tablespoons of our pickling spice mixed with 1.5 liters of water, 500 ml of vinegar (10%), 300 g of sugar and about 100 g of salt. In the first step you should carefully wash, clean and peel your vegetables (about 3 kg). To spice them up, you can divide the prepared and cut vegetables into boiled screw jars or preserving jars and pour them up to the brim with your boiled spice broth until everything is covered. Finally, seal the jars tightly and let them cool. Your vegetables should be left to marinate for at least 4 weeks before consumption.
Your preserving spice has a shelf life of up to 60 months if stored correctly (room temperature in a dry place) in the unopened original packaging. You will also find the best-before date of your product on the filled packaging.
With mustard seeds, dill tips, black pepper, allspice, juniper berries, bay leaves and cloves load only gluten-free ingredients in our pickling spice. However, no corresponding studies have been conducted so far that could exclude traces/cross-contamination with gluten, therefore we do not title our pickling spice gluten-free and advise people suffering from celiac disease or gluten intolerance not to use it.
