Peanuts: much sought-after and incredibly addictive

Peanuts are not just an all time favourite TV show, they are also irreplaceable in the kitchen. They can be snacked on pure, added to your vegetable coconut curry or spring rolls, thrown in the blender to make a fine peanut butter or simply be used as a topping for your banana, peanut and coffee bowl or porridge. You will, as usual, find many delicious peanut dishes in our Food Journal: how about some peanut cups, vegan peanut and chocolate balls, blondies or shortbread with peanuts?

Why is the peanut called peanut?

Botanically speaking, peanuts are not even considered nuts, but legumes. The peanut was originally called "ground nut" or ground pea" because it develops under the ground. The English even nicknamed them "monkey nuts", because monkeys in the zoo would eat them by the cartful. Eventually, the name peanut settled, simply because the size of a peanut is close to pea size. When peanuts are harvested, they are taken out of the ground and dried. We removed the shell and skin and they are ready for you to order them!

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

To be eaten cooked of course!

I tasted a piece of peanut to make sure they didn't have a chemical aftertaste (they can soak up the plastic packaging) but nothing to report! They are perfect.
Raw peanuts are impossible to find in stores. They are often roasted in oil and salted. I prefer to prepare them myself by soaking them first and then dehydrating/refreezing them in the oven without adding any fat.
This way, nuts and legumes (kashrut is a legume!) are more digestible, crunchy and less fatty. The same applies to cereals and grasses: soaking reduces the phytic acid and oxalate content.
Be careful not to eat them raw, they would be totally indigestible. Moreover, it is the roasting process that gives the peanut the flavour that we know.

The delivery went very well and the delivery man did not get the wrong mailbox (which has happened to me with other carriers).
On the other hand, it would be much better if the packaging was not made of plastic but of ecological materials and healthier for food contact. Storing food in plastic can lead to contamination risks...

Doesn't taste like anything, but ...

Hm, I do not like the peanuts. I can describe the taste or what bothers me bad, in any case, they taste like "little". Maybe it's because they are blanched and I have only ever eaten peanut kernels with skin. But in the peanut cream is also no skin in it and this tastes good to me.

The price-performance ratio is good. In the form, so pure natura, I have found elsewhere at the price no product. Packaging practical with resealable.
I bought three kinds of nuts, mixed together and ready for daily consumption :)

Different from "normal", but still delicious

The peanuts are unroasted, so the taste deviate somewhat from the "normal" nuts. Nevertheless, delicious if you roast them yourself. I soak the -as all other nuts also- usually overnight in water, so that the nutrients are more available 😅
