Chia seeds are probably the most popular and well-known superfood. They are used in Chia
Chia seeds are constantly gaining popularity and have become an integral part of the selection of every supermarket, and a household staple – and rightly so! These tiny, shiny seeds hide much more than you might think at first.
The Omega 3-rich superfood
This South American superfood is not only high in valuable Omega 3 fatty acids, but is also a great source of fibre and plant-based protein. A fantastic addition to a healthy and varied diet, chia seeds are super delicious, versatile, and fun to use!
Chia seeds – a true all-rounder
With our chia seeds you can do a lot more than chia pudding. Add a spoonful of them to your morning porridge or muesli bowl, blend them in your smoothie, or use them as an extra ingredient for your homemade bread; in fact, chia seeds are particularly valuable for baking egg-free goods, as their high swelling capacity makes them perfect to replace eggs and hold your baked creations together.
High swelling capacity
If you are a fan of chia pudding, you might have already witnessed these seeds' amazing swelling capacity; by adding water or plant-based milk to chia seeds and letting the mixture rest a few hours, you obtain a pudding-like texture that tastes delicious served refrigerated and with fresh fruit, nuts or nut butter, coconut flakes – whatever you prefer! Chia pudding will brighten up your mornings and leave you feeling full, satisfied, and ready to face the day with energy and good mood.
Not a fan of chia pudding? No problem. You can enjoy the benefits and taste of these dark seeds in more subtle ways just by adding them to your bowls. Also savoury dishes can benefit from chia seeds. Sprinkle them on your salad, bake them in your bread... have fun with experimenting!

What is the KoRo price chart?
In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles. -
Why is the price fluctuating?
Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers. -
Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?
Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Organic white chia seeds 1 kg - a look behind the scenes

Cultivated in tropical regions
What the Chia plant loves and needs the most, is warmth

The Chia plant
Thousands of years old, the Chia plants belongs to the sage family and is recognisable from its tiny and beautiful lilac flowers.

Ripening of the seeds
In order to thrive, Chia seeds need sun and warmth, and to be protected from eccessive rain. Chia does not need a particularly rich soil, and can grow without problems on nutrient-poor land.

Harvest takes place in autumn
From around July the flowers of the Chia plant begin to blossom and shine of a bright lilac. The flowering season usually ends between August and September, and before they fall, the seeds can be harvested.

Fun fact
You have probably already asked yourself, what is the difference between black and white chia seeds? Almost none, in fact: their taste and nutritional content are almost identical.

At the moment of sowing, fine grooves are machine-made in the plants before the seeds are planted so that after the chia plants have withered, the so-called seed pods form, in which the chia seeds are located. In November, the chia seeds are finally harvested with the help of combine harvesters, cleaned and packaged.
