Virgin canola oil vs refined canola oil
Not all canola oil is the same. Basically, edible oils are divided into "virgin" and "refined". "Virgin" or "cold-pressed" oils are those that are extracted from the seeds or fruits of a plant without the addition of heat. Due to the gentle extraction process, virgin oils are usually of a higher quality, as flavours and vitamins are better preserved. So-called "refined edible oils", on the other hand, are obtained by hot pressing. The oil obtained is then purified (refined) from undesirable substances. This process can result in the loss of vitamins and the natural aroma. Therefore, in contrast to virgin oils, refined oils taste rather neutral. Since virgin oils are less heat-resistant, they are primarily suitable for refining cold dishes, but score points in return with their natural aroma. If you are looking for an oil with a high heat resistance, you should definitely take a look at our organic frying and baking oil.
How do I use virgin canola oil by KoRo?
If you have read the previous section diligently, you are probably aware that our cold-pressed canola oil (also known as "rapeseed oil", by the way) is not too well suited for frying. Due to its low heat resistance, the oil decomposes very quickly at high temperatures and smokes in the pan. However, you can use our virgin rapeseed oil wonderfully to refine dishes and to gently steam vegetables. Among other things, our rapeseed oil is perfect in creamy dips and delicious dressings for crunchy salads. But our vegan mayonnaise is also made from canola oil. Of course, we have even thought of the perfect storage and keeping: In our oil dispenser you can portion the oil perfectly. If we have aroused your curiosity, you should definitely read our article on the variety of oils in our Food Journal.

Fine, cold-pressed rapeseed oil from organic rapeseed is a must in every kitchen. Even if at first glance it seems rather "unspectacular" in contrast to other types of oil, the vegetable oil is an all-round talent that does not have the status of one of the most popular cooking oils in Germany for nothing. Buy our virgin organic canola oil and convince yourself of the taste of the yellow kitchen helper.
