Everything at a glance Organic oat bran with germ 2 kg

Feeling like some extra-healthy and delicious porridge? With less carbs and calories, and more protein than regular oats, and just as tasty in flavour as the traditional alternative, oat bran has become a very popular food over the last few years. But what's so special about it, exactly? Oat bran is made by grinding oat's thin skin — the husk, which covers the inner endosperm, the fruit skin, and the germ — into a fine powder. But what can you do with oat bran?

Oat bran is super easy to use

The most common dish containing oat bran is breakfast porridge. Cooking your oat bran with some hot water, you will obtain a wonderfully creamy porridge which you can top with fresh fruit, nuts and toppings. But that’s not all: oat bran also performs well as baking ingredient in your bread, buns, cookies, cake and muffins, and provides you an extra portion of fibre (19 g/100 g). Some even claim that you can cook delicious spaetzle and pancakes with oat bran, but we don't want to say that out loud as not to offend the Dutch and the Swabian cuisines.Oat bran also has many uses outside the kitchen, for example in masks or exfoliants. But back to food: why is oat bran so popular?

Oat bran – the inner values count

We have to admit, oat bran doesn't sound so sexy and perhaps it doesn't have star appeal in terms of appearance - BUT it's the inner values that count and our oat bran definitely convinces with these: with 19 g of dietary fibre per 100 g, oat bran has a high dietary fibre content. Sports fans and biceps lovers will be pleased, because oat bran is also a source of protein (15 g/100 g) and protein contributes to the maintenance bones. It's also a fact that protein contributes to muscle mass growth. When we hear this, we immediately prefer to eat our morning porridge with our oat bran and make it extra creamy with oat drink and a spoonful of nut butter.

Looks good in a salad and tastes nutty.

In muesli, the oat bran goes rather under the taste, but since it is super healthy, it has its raison d'être :-)
I have the oat bran decanted, because it fits visually better to the other containers on my breakfast table and is more handy.

I don't know what it looks like

I don't know what it's supposed to look like, but I couldn't see anything "germ" like.
Oat bran with or without germ goes down in my porridge with coarse and fine rolled oats - but if it's healthy. :-D
