Back in the 6th century the Chinese discovered the unbelievable potential of a light green powder named Matcha, which was used as a medical plant. Later on when buddhist Monks were traveling to Japan, they brought back the seeds of the tea plant. Thats how the nearly forgotten matcha plant was gladly rediscovered. The matcha powder is won from the tea plant. The cultivation is very similar to other tea plants, except that the matcha plant is shadowed throughout it's growth. Why? The shadowing brings along a higher production of Chlorophyll and Protein production. The plant therefore gets most of its Minerals out of the soil. That's how you get the unique taste and green colour. After the harvest, the tea leaves are getting dried and grounded in a traditional stone mill. Because Matcha is not a proprietary word and the translation would me "milled tea", there are many different qualities of Matcha. In general you differ between Ceremony, Premium and Cooking quality.

Unflatteringly the best matcha I have tried so far! Had already ordered some on Amazon, including various organic matcha and "the best matcha". Unfortunately, the "best matcha" and others have always smelled and tasted like fish. With Koro's matcha, there is not even a hint of fish or other smells/tastes. It tastes like it should taste! The tea also foams up well. Will definitely recommend to others!
