Beautiful inside and out – lupins
Lupins belong to the legume family and are true beauties with their radiant purple-white flowers! But their inner values are also convincing: they provide a nice home for all kinds of insects that go in search of flowers, including bees. In addition, they are rich in protein in their original form - have you already discovered our lupin protein in the shop? Sweet lupins are particularly common and suitable for consumption. You will often find them cultivated on a large scale, as they can also serve as green manure. Our sweet lupins come from organic farming in Germany and are harvested in late summer, ready for further processing.
What is lupin coffee?
One way of further processing - coffee! For this, the lupins are carefully cleaned and dried after harvesting. Then it's time to roast the coffee. In our case, 15 kg of lupins are processed by hand in a small roaster. This gives our lupins a similar aroma to the roasted seeds of their coffee colleagues. Our lupin coffee is then ground directly into a 1 kg format and refined with an exquisite blend of spices. Cinnamon, ginger, cocoa, cardamom, nutmeg, cloves, coriander, tonka and liquorice are all part of the mix. A colourful bunch, which is, however, perfectly matched in taste and gives the lupins a spicy aroma reminiscent of chai. A little tip: If these spices put a smile on your face, then our Golden Drink and pumpkin pie spices are definitely something for you too! Last but not least, the 1 kg bags are sewn shut and are on their way to you.
Preparing lupin coffee
Now we come to the most important part - the preparation - and it couldn't be easier: Basically, you treat lupin coffee the same way you would ground coffee. You can pour hot water on it or prepare it with a filter machine. The lupin powder also works very well in a French press. Since the powder is quite finely ground, you should be careful not to compact the powder too much when using a portafilter or espresso maker. We recommend using 1-2 heaped teaspoons per cup, but of course you can vary the amount according to your taste. Now quickly froth up your favourite oat drink, grab a piece of cake and enjoy!

delicious
Very tasty coffee, the blend of spices enhances it wonderfully. A little problem with brewing, still testing how it works best. No need to add sugar. This is a coffee substitute that is closest in flavor to it.
Delicious!
Have dared and ordered the lupine coffee with spices - and not regretted it in the least! Simply delicious, tastes like chai coffee, only decaffeinated :) drink it every day and look forward to it every time, with a sip of chocolate drink soy even better. Will order again!
absolutely delicious
What a wonderful and delicious alternative to coffee. This coffee smells so good. I sometimes mix it with real coffee and sometimes I take it plain. The only drawback is that you have to wait for the water to brew, so I make filter coffee.
I used to be a coffee addict, now it's worse
A full taste, with the aromatic power of coffee and the greediness of hot chocolate... lupine is divine!
Taste great, but
The big but up front - as many others have already said, due to the finely ground spices filtering is difficult - French press goes if you give it enough time to sink. On the positive side, intense smell, taste good, but of course not a coffee in the classic sense
Tastes good but difficult to prepare
The taste is great! I love it but it is so finely ground that it is very difficult to prepare with a normal filter.
Spices do not have to be (very wintry), but awesome coffee substitute!
I have taken the lupine coffee to start with spices. As a cappuccino (Lupresso Style) this is super suitable for winter, pure it reminds me too much of yogi tea though.... Next time I try in any case without spices, as a real coffee substitute (less tea-like).
