We've decided from now on that we only eat pasta on days that end in "y". Why? Because we are totally thrilled with our new organic konjac fettuccine and all the different ways we can use it! And not only that ... We are also convinced by the nutritional value of the konjac noodles: they are fat- and sugar-free and have only 5 calories per 100 g and less than 0.1 g of carbohydrates. Although the water-soaked noodles taste relatively neutral on their own, in a pasta sauce they come very close to their relatives made from wheat, wholemeal or spelt flour. No wonder, then, that the truly wonderful properties have been taken literally and the noodles are also known in the USA as "Miracle Noodles". What are konjac noodles made of?

Although the name may remind you of the French brandy, our konjac fettuccine has nothing to do with cognac. Instead, they are white noodles soaked in water, which are confusingly similar to "real" noodles when processed. However, the differences become clear when it comes to the ingredients and the production process: our konjac pasta consists largely of water and a little konjac flour. To obtain the flour, the root of the Asian konjac plant, which is also known as devil's tongue or tear tree, is dried and then ground. Adding water produces a gel-like mass that can be further processed into various foods: Konjac spaghetti, penne, lasagne, even konjac rice is available! And because our konjac fettuccine look like a white waterfall with their long, wide shape, they are also called shirataki noodles in Japanese.
