Legumes - what are they?

Legumes are the seeds of so-called papilionaceous plants, which ripen in a pod. There is a large variety of legumes and they can be wonderfully integrated into your diet.

Using legumes

There are numerous tasty recipes for using cooked legumes: as a crunchy topping in a salad, in a hearty stew, pureed as a delicious side dish or as a helper in so-called "blind baking". The little friends round off your dishes with delicious protein and are therefore indispensable, especially in a vegan diet. In addition, they have a remarkable content of dietary fiber. Legumes are ideal for Mediterranean and oriental, hot and cold dishes.

The special feature of our legume mix

40% chickpeas, 15% green peas, 15% black beans, 15% pinto beans and 15% white beans - a mixing ratio that did not come about arbitrarily. Our mix has the distinction of not containing lentils, compared to the competition's mixes. The reason for this is that lentils and beans have different cooking times. The goal of our composition was to create a mixture that has a uniform consistency after cooking, so that you can let the colorful cocktail melt in your mouth in equal measure.

Five types of legumes

The list of legumes is long - but we only get the crème de la crème: with a share of 40% of the total mix, chickpeas provide a huge portion of good humor in the mix, because they are known to be the vegetable that tells the best jokes. But beans could also never be missing! And since we couldn't decide, we simply packed three different varieties into the bag: black beans, white beans and pinto beans. Pinto beans in particular are a real beauty among beans. Visually, they resemble quail eggs because of their speckled decoration, which is why they are also called "quail beans." Since our eyes eat with us, this bean beauty was of course not to be missed. Jack already knew about the magical power of beans. Unfortunately, our beans can't keep up with a beanstalk that reaches up to the sky. However, they are musically a real hit, because every little bean produces a little sound. The green finish is provided by our little legume, the pea.

Yeah! It would be really useful if the Koro's team would post a recipe or just an "how to" cook them.

12 Oct 2021

Does anyone here have a recipe recommendation?

20 Aug 2021

Fine, but...

I find the selection in the mix really great! However, I had written to the support regarding the preparation and there I was recommended a cooking time of 12-14 minutes - after that, however, the legumes are still quite solid ... Do I have to soak them before?

8 Sep 2021

I'm getting a bit frustrated with the pulses. I also wrote to support and was advised a cooking time of 12-14 minutes. However, there they were still hard - even after 45 minutes.... Now I've tried soaking for 24hrs, but somehow the pulses are still rock hard. Would be really great if the Koro team uploads a recipe for making it here sometime. Maybe I'm really being a bit stupid....

15 Sep 2021

Yes, I am also like that. After 60 min in the pressure cooker, the large beans and the chickpeas are still a bit hard :-( had hoped to get a hint on the side of the product !?.

27 Aug 2021

I feel much the same way. Have you already figured out how to prepare the legumes?

28 Aug 2021
