Varieties and origins

Cinnamon is a very old spice that originally came from Asia. Cinnamon trees are grown on plantations and harvested immediately after the rainy season, as the bark is then fresh and moist and can be easily peeled off. The quality of the cinnamon is based on the texture and color of its quills.

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Organic Ceylon cinnamon 500 g - a look behind the scenes

Questions about questions Organic Ceylon cinnamon 500 g

Search in our FAQ section::

What makes KoRo's organic Ceylon cinnamon so special?

Our Ceylon cinnamon has a wonderfully mild, pleasantly sweet aroma. Since we have already thought that this cinnamon will simply convince every cinnamon lover, the spice comes right in the practical 500 g advantage pack to your home. So you can share your favorite spice with your family members or flatmates without having to worry that you will run out of cinnamon for your next porridge. As if that wasn't enough, we source our cinnamon from organic farms. If that's not argument enough for our delicious cinnamon, we don't know what is.

How is cinnamon made?

To produce cinnamon, the bark of the cinnamon tree is stripped of the outer layers. Ceylon cinnamon is harvested in very thin layers of bark, which are then stitched together so that their appearance resembles a cigar. The cinnamon sticks are then dried and ground into cinnamon powder. Pretty cool, right?

How much cinnamon should I eat per day?

According to German authorities, the maximum limit for cinnamon consumption is about 600 g of cinnamon per year. This corresponds to approximately 1.6 g per day.

Is Ceylon cinnamon organic?

Of course, our cinnamon comes exclusively from organic farming.

Is Ceylon cinnamon vegan?

Of course, our organic Ceylon cinnamon is completely vegan. Except for ground cinnamon, literally nothing comes into our bag, so the spice is purely vegetable.

What is the difference between Cassia and Ceylon cinnamon?

Our organic Cassia cinnamon is slightly spicier than the organic Ceylon cinnamon in our spice range. Cassia cinnamon sticks - from which the powder was ground, are coarser and thicker than the cinnamon sticks of Ceylon cinnamon. But this is not the only difference between the two varieties: Cassia cinnamon is darker and more intense in flavor.

How should I store cinnamon?

To ensure that cinnamon retains its intense aroma for as long as possible, you should store the spice in a cool, dry place. Our Ball Mason Jars are ideal for this purpose.

Should I eat cinnamon during my pregnancy?

Cinnamon is said to have a labor-inducing effect, but this is only noticeable if you eat a very large amount of cinnamon. Cinnamon in large quantities can cause side effects. However, the Ceylon variety in particular does not pose a problem for most women when taken in moderation. However, we recommend that you consult your doctor.

Should I eat cinnamon while breast feeding?

You should also be careful with cinnamon when breastfeeding, as large amounts of the spice can lead to side effects. We therefore recommend that you consult your doctor.

Can my baby eat organic Ceylon cinnamon?

Yes and no - Ceylon cinnamon is definitely a better choice for your baby due to its lower coumarin content. However, only small amounts of cinnamon are enough for your baby to cause lasting harm. We therefore recommend that you do not give your baby organic Ceylon cinnamon.

Can my dog eat Ceylon cinnamon?

Cassia cinnamon can be harmful to dogs due to its generally higher coumarin content. Ceylon cinnamon is harmless in small amounts and can even do your dog some good. However, you should discuss the exact amount with your veterinarian. And if you are looking for a wholesome food for your four-legged friend, take a look at our dog food selection assortment.

A critical customer says

Very little flavor and fibrous

Since I still had an organic Ceylon cinnamon from another manufacturer, I come only now to try. I must join some previous opinions that this cinnamon is very mild and also somehow fibrous. It is also paler in color. Let's see if I can still use it up.

Hey Stephanie, thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry that our cinnamon could not convince you. We will discuss your concern internally, as well as with our suppliers. Kind regards from your KoRo team :)
