  • Price Graph Icon

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Questions about questions Organic brown lentils 2 kg

Search in our FAQ section::

What makes these brown lentils so special?

Our brown lentils come from organic agriculture and do not contain any additives such as oils, colourings, flavourings, or preservatives. Due to their high protein content, brown lentils are an excellent addition to a vegan or vegetarian diet. Moreover, thanks to its versatility, the small legume is a must-have in your kitchen: patties, Bolognese, stews, soups, curries, salads, and spreads are only a fraction of the dishes that can be prepared with brown lentils. Last but not least: as we skip trading steps with our bulk packs and save thus money, we can offer you these high-quality lentils for a super convenient price!

Where do these brown lentils come from?

Our organic lentils come from Turkey.

How should I cook these legumes?

We recommend soaking your lentils in plenty of hot water 3 to 4 hours before cooking, or even overnight. The warmer the water, the shorter the soaking time. For the cooking process, you can either use the soaking water or fresh water - just try out what works best for you here; add about double the amount of water to the saucepan and let the lentils simmer for 30 to 40 minutes. If you don't have time for the soaking process, the lentils will take about 60 minutes to be ready. However, how long the brown lentils should cook depends on how you plan to use the legumes; a shorter cooking time is recommended for a lentil salad or as a side dish with a bite. Tip: if you want your lentils to keep a firm texture, you should cook them with salt. If are always in a hurry and have no patience for brown lentils, try our red lentils, which are brown ones whose husk has been removed!

How many calories do these dry lentils have?

100 grams of our brown lentils have 323 kcal and 42 g of carbohydrates. Their exact nutritional values can be found next to or below the product description, and printed on the packaging.

Are brown lentils high-protein?

Yes, with 26 grams per 100, brown lentils are a great source of plant-based protein, and can contribute to the growth and maintenance of muscle mass.

Are KoRo's brown lentils vegan and organic?

Yes, our lentils come from certified organic agriculture, and, as they contain no animal products, are 100 % vegan!

How long is the shelf life of these lentils?

Unopened, and properly stored in a cool and dry place, our dry lentils keep for at least 2 years after packaging. If they have expired, there is no reason to blindly throw them away, as the best-before date, which only states until when the properties of a food such as taste, smell, colour, consistency, and nutritional value remain at least unchanged, should not be confused with the use-by date. We generally recommend a visual inspection and, if necessary, an odour and taste test before consumption.

Do lentils contain gluten?

Lentils are naturally gluten-free. However, cross-contamination can occur during the filling process, as our bottler also processes foods containing gluten, which is why we don't label our brown lentils gluten-free.

Are brown lentils healthy?

The basis for a healthy life is a balanced and wholesome diet paired with an active lifestyle. Being high in protein and fibre, brown lentils can certainly be a wonderful addition to a healthy diet. Proteins, for example, help maintain muscle mass and normal bones, and keep you feeling full and satisfied after a meal!

What can I make with brown lentils?

Keeping in mind that the cooking process varies depending on what you plan to do with the legume, brown lentils are incredibly versatile in the kitchen! A slightly firmer texture is recommended for side dishes and salads, for example. Our favourite lentil salad is a typical Arabic recipe, which rely on lemon, mint, and coriander for an incomparable freshness. Spreads and patties, on the other hand, turn out better if your lentils are softer. If you need inspiration, take a look at our Food journal section, where we collect delicious and tested recipes!
