Everything at a glance Manuka Honey MGO 400 +

Manuka honey is obtained from the nectar of the flowers of the South Sea myrtle - Leptospermum scoparium. Since the South Sea myrtle is called Manuka by the natives of New Zealand, it is widely known as Manuka Shrub. Manuka has long been used by the Maori as a medicinal plant. The possibility of obtaining Manuka honey was discovered relatively late, however, when missionaries brought honey bees into the country in 1839.

The real Manuka Honey comes exclusively from New Zealand and small parts of Australia. The honeycombs of the beehives set up between wild Manuka bushes are harvested gently at the time of flowering.

This 100% pure natural product not only tastes wonderful thanks to its pleasantly spicy-tart note, it also brings you well nourished through the cold winter months!

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Questions about questions Manuka Honey MGO 400 +

Search in our FAQ section::

What does MGO stand for?

The MGO value provides information about the methylglyoxal value of the honey, which determines its quality, as methylglyoxal is an antibacterial ingredient present in Manuka honey. The designation MGO ™ 400+ means that this Manuka honey of ours contains at least 400 mg of methyglyoxal per kilogram.

Sometimes you find the UMF values instead of the MGO: what is the difference?

While the quality of Manuka honey in Europe is given with the MGO value, the UMF (Unique Manuka Factor) is used in New Zealand, but both factors provide information about the antibacterial activity of the honey. In order to be able to compare the New Zealand UMF with the European MGO, one can use conversion tables. An MGO of 400+ corresponds to a UMF of 13+.

How can I use Manuka honey?

Manuka honey has a strong antibacterial effect, which means that it can be used internally and externally, to treat various physical complaints or as a preventive measure. For internal use, a teaspoon a day is recommended, either pure or in your tea. You should make sure to keep the honey in your mouth for a long time and swallow it as slowly as possible, as this allows the full effect of the Manuka honey to develop. For external use, it is recommended to apply the honey thinly to the area to be treated.

How should I store Manuka honey?

Manuka honey should be stored in a cool, dry and dark place. For a long shelf life, KoRo's Manuka Honey is kept in a dark glass.

How is Manuka honey collected?

Manuka honey with MGO is produced only during the flowering period of the Manuka bush. The honey is extracted from the honeycomb using a gentle cold spin process, during which no heat is used, so that none of the honey's valuable properties are lost.
