Whether mild stomach upset or even a really nasty summer flu - sometimes you have to spare his stomach and should not overwhelm him with too digestible food.
Light food or light whole foods, what is that?
If the stomach has a lot of work to do and it tweaks and grumbles in the abdominal area, pizza, fries and co are not necessarily the best idea. If you want to do something good for your body in a troubled phase and relieve your digestive system, then you should switch specifically to light food or light whole foods. These include stomach-friendly and well-digestible foods. They can help your body to recover faster and sometimes also significantly improve the subjective well-being.
When should you use gentle food?
Whenever your digestive tract is overstressed or even impaired, it is recommended to promote healing with a light diet. Although light food is not a medical therapy, some foods can still cause significant changes in the organism. For complaints such as a gastrointestinal infection, abdominal or stomach pain or an unpleasant feeling of fullness, nausea and vomiting, as well as flatulence, menstrual cramps, digestive problems such as constipation or diarrhea and heartburn, a stomach-sparing diet is always recommended.
Which foods are suitable for gastrointestinal complaints?
There are a lot of foods that are delicious, wholesome and healthy. Despite the rather dreary term "light food", enjoyment does not have to fall by the wayside.
Just wait and drink tea
This is probably the biggest challenge for the coffee junkies, but if you have a stomach ache you should not drink coffee in the morning and instead opt for a soothing tea such as fennel, chamomile or mint tea. The coffee tends to be acidic, which can additionally irritate the stomach. The stimulating effect of caffeine can also cause more bowel movements, which for instance is counterproductive in diarrhea. Even with fruit tea, depending on the symptoms of caution : Many fruit teas are very sour and irritate, similar to coffee, your stomach. In case of nausea, vomiting and heartburn, stay with the herbal tea!
Dairy products, meat and fish?
Again, less fat is more! Fat is particularly hard to digest and requires a lot of effort from your body. Therefore, you should rather resort to skim quark, low-fat milk or vegetable milk. Rice, semolina, rusks and everything that is more carbohydrate-rich and best made from fine flour is well digestible. The same principle applies to fish and meat as well : prefer to use low-fat alternatives. Not a good idea is eel, mackerel or fried. Good, however, are lean chicken, beef or veal.
What else do you consider ?
No matter which stomach problems it is, you should not eat spicy or extremely acidic foods first. Carbonated drinks, nuts or stone fruit are just as little part of a stomach-friendly diet. It is always important to drink a lot to rinse your body well on the one hand and on the other hand to counteract a lack of fluids. It can also be helpful to eat many small portions instead of a few large ones. This keeps your intestines on track, but does not overwhelm him.
