Fruity raspberry facts

We want to provide added value, so that you have delicious snacks AND added knowledge. How about this: botanically speaking, raspberries are not even considered berries. They are actually aggregate fruits. They also come in a range of colours, with everything from pink, red and white to black. The little fruit likes to grow around forests, so be on the lookout next time you go for a walk in the woods. They blossom between May and June.

In 2018, around 870,000 tons of raspberries were harvested, led by the world's largest producer, Russia. Two varieties of raspberries exist, also called summer and autumn varieties, which are harvested between June and October. Raspberries are low in sugar and therefore in calories, and contain important vitamins and minerals. Since they should be consumed immediately after harvesting, there are now many products that make raspberries durable without loss of quality and additives.

Ingenious for baking

I use the raspberries for baking and snacking . They are a little firmer in consistency than the freeze-dried ones. In the cake, however, the raspberries soften well without making the cake mushy.
