Everything at a glance Dried Jumbo raisins

Some love them, others - we can't imagine why - hate them. We definitely belong to the sultana lover team! For us, they belong in trail mix, various mueslis and Christmas cakes. This is mainly due to their delicious sweetness and the light honey flavour. If you're wondering what the differences are between grapes, raisins, sultanas and currants (yes, there are differences), then be sure to read on and add the jumbo grapes with no added sugar to your shopping basket now to be equipped with a super great snack in the convenient 1 kg bulk pack. Buy juicy jumbo sultanas now!

Sultanas vs. raisins vs. currants – what is the difference?

You have probably heard all three of these terms at some point. But what does each of them mean and where are the differences between the dried berries? Both sultanas and grapes belong to the raisin group. Raisin is the general term for dried grapes. There are light as well as darker dried grapes, the colour is not related to how fresh the fruit is. Most raisins are produced in the USA, Australia, Iran and Turkey, where it is nice and warm. The sultana is the most important of all grapes, because it has a very thin skin, no seeds and a particularly sweet flavour. The size and texture also make them extremely popular. When raisins are dipped into some oil before drying, the resulting product are sultanas. Currants are made from smaller, dark purple grapes that are mostly from Greece — close to Corinth, hence the name.

It wasn't only the Romans who loved to eat grapes. We still do, too, but we're particularly fond of the dried variety. Drying preserves the grapes and brings out their sweetness even better. To prevent them from sticking together, we have added a little sunflower oil. Our jumbo-sized grapes are naturally sweet and do not need any added sugar. They go straight into the 1 kg bag just as KoRo created them, and are just waiting to move into your kitchen. You can snack on them directly or make raisin bread, cakes and other baked goods with the sweet berries. Savoury dishes such as curries and couscous salads can also be greatly improved with a few raisins. Buy your 1 kg value pack now and bring a special dose of fruity sweetness into your kitchen!

Varieties and origins

Exact figures on the worldwide production of the individual varieties of grapes are difficult to find, and what you see on the map is an approximation. Of course, not all of these grapes are dried, but it gives you a good overview of where grapes are cultivated. Annual production of raisins and sultanas is currently around 800,000 tons. Did you know that when the berries are dried, the water content of the berries drops to approximately 18% and the fructose content increases to about 33%?

What is the KoRo price chart?

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Nice and fruity

They taste better to me than sultanas or the typical raisins, more like fruit juice, and they contain less oil. For the fact that no sugar is zugestetzt, they are very sweet; I snack but rarely, so am hardly accustomed to sugar. I make myself a curd every night with bananas, nuts, etc, so this fits the bill.

Like raisins, not bad but not a highlight

Kind of overlooked the fact that they're actually like raisins. Not bad in itself, but eats no one else in the household except me. Am trying out what I can use the whole berries yet, except in cereal
