Our pecan nuts come from far away, South Africa to be precise, where, thanks to the African sun, the nuts grow well and develop a sweet taste Once harvested, the nuts are roasted and then turned into our delicious mousse. To make sure that our mousse would taste delicious and could be enjoyed by everybody, we perfected our recipe, finding the ideal roasting.
You can use our pecan mousse as a spread or as topping for your muesli or porridge bowls, or, if you want to surprise your loved ones with an unexpected and surprising taste experience, you can secretly add it to your vegan burgers! Refining your desserts with it is also, of course, a great idea.

Born in the USA
Pecans originally come from the USA, where they are very popular, so much that the pecan tree is Texas official national tree. However, the cultivation of pecans is also possible outside of the American hemispheres, as all they need is sun and a warm climate.
A relative of walnuts
Pecan trees need to be at least ten meters away from other trees, because their big roots go very deep. The tree belongs to the walnut family, and the similarity is such, that pecans are also called American walnuts.
The first nuts can be harvested after several years
Farmers have to wait around five to eight years before being able to harvest the first nuts, which are, however, definitely worth the wait. Moreover, pecan trees often live for several thousand years, and keep on rewarding their owners - or rather their great-great-great-great-grandchildren - with their delicious fruits.
Shaken, not picked
How do you know when the pecans are ready to be harvested? The shell practically opens by itself and the nuts fall easily to the ground. This is why pecans are not picked by hand, which would be hard anyway, as the trees grow up to 35 m, but simply shaken off the tree.
Selected and processed
Once harvested, the nuts have to be peeled and sorted. Broken and whole kernels are divided, as the former ones are further processed, they are turned into pecan butter, for example, and the latter ones are sold for a higher price. For a delicious pecan-based snack, try our caramelised pecans!
