Varieties and origins

Originally from Japan, the name Edamame means something like 'bean on a branch'. The soybeans are harvested slightly unripe and then generally steamed with the pod. However, only the green beans are then eaten, not their pericarp. Exact figures on the worldwide production of edamame beans are not known, this is why our map shows you the cultivation of other soy varieties as well.

In this chart, you can see the price per base unit (mainly 100g). In addition, you will learn the reason for a price reduction or increase by clicking on the information circles.
  • Price Change Icon

    Why is the price fluctuating?

Most annual product crops have an impact on the relationship between supply and demand in the market. In the event of a bad harvest, we must also pay a higher price for raw materials. Due to the strong impact of external factors such as wind, weather, climate and natural events on the harvest, we are refusing long-term cross-harvest contracts with our producers.
  • Communication Icon

Why are we communicating price changes at KoRo?

Open communication is very important to us and therefore part of our vision. For this reason, we would like to keep you informed of the evolution of our prices. Thus, the KoRo price chart provides a transparent overview of the evolution of the products prices over time.

Questions about questions Chocolate covered edamame 1 kg

Search in our FAQ section::

Edamame - what is it?

Edamame are unripe harvested green soybeans that originally come from Japan. The plant grows to about one metre tall. It takes about 2-3 months before the small peas can be harvested. By the way, the literal meaning of edamame (pronunciation: ee-da-maa-me) is "bean on a branch". It doesn't sound quite as sexy, which is why we like to call them " happy beans".

Are edamame healthy?

What is healthy is, above all, a balanced and wholesome diet. With 18 g protein per 100 g, the little beans are also a great source of protein. Their high fibre content of 9.5 g is also remarkable.

Can I eat chocolate edamame during pregnancy?

Basically, we don't see any problems with eating edamame during pregnancy, as long as it is eaten in moderation. It is best to talk to your doctor about it again to be absolutely sure.

What can I do with edamame?

Whether as a snack in the office, as a topping in your muesli or as an alternative to conventional snacks: the happy bean with a chocolate coating is revolutionising the snack game. In Germany, you can usually find regular edamame frozen in the pod or already peeled. The preparation is very simple: the beans are boiled with the peel in salted water until they are crunchy and then sprinkled with coarse sea salt. The peel is not eaten. In our shop you can also find tasty roasted and salted edamame beans, which are great as a snack or salad topping.

What do edamame beans taste like?

Edamame beans have a slightly nutty, mild flavour. We add delicious sweetness by coating the beans in a layer of chocolate. Be sure to try it.

Chocolate snack without a guilty conscience

Caution addiction factor! Pleasantly sweet and the guilty conscience is not so big with this "semi-healthy" snack. In fact, the feeling of satiety comes after a short time. If the chocolate were vegan, it would be 5 stars. This could be improved, because butter fat is actually unnecessary.

Sweet, salty and deliciously crunchy!

The edamame in chocolate are a super TV snack. Since they are rather tart and not megea sweet by the dark chocolate, they also have less addictive potential than chips or other snacks. Delicious I find the chocolate edamame also crushed as a topping on breakfast bowls and desserts. The price-performance ratio is great and I also like the nutritional values with the relatively high protein content.
