Melon seeds were used both as nourishment for sailors on longer trips and for making melon flour. Originally, cantaloupe melon came from West Africa, but they have been grown in Egypt and Persia for centuries. Sometime later, they were brought to America by ship. Nowadays, melons are grown in many warm countries. Our cantaloupe melon, for example, comes from Thailand.
